PLAYER / FAMILY INFORMATION

Welcome to the Holy Spirit Parish Netball Club. (HSNC)

​

The HSNC was formed in 1980 and has since grown to over 220 members including junior and senior players, umpires, coaches and a dedicated team of volunteer administrators.The HSNC plays in a competition that is run by Melbourne East Netball Association (MENA) and played the Nets at HE Parker Reserve, Heathmont Road, Heathmont. www.menanetball.com.au  We encourage players and families to follow MENA on Facebook or Instagram, as often updates and game day communication is published on the site.

NSG is played on Friday afternoons between 4.30pm and 6.30pm. 
11&U through to Open ages are played on Saturdays commencing at 8am (11&U) through to 5pm (Open).

Netball Victoria is the governing body for netball and in Victoria. Holy Spirit and MENA adopt Netball Victoria policies and guidelines. Copies can be obtained from the Netball Victoria website: www.netballvic.com.au

AGE GROUPS

HSNC fields teams from under 9 Mixed Net Set Go (NSG) through to Open age competitions.

The age groups competing within the Melbourne East Netball Association (MENA) are:


NSG Mixed is from the age of 6 years can compete in this competition. All players will be rotated through every position.  All players receive a medal or trophy for participation at the end of the season from MENA. The focus is on basic skill development, team play and fun. Where possible children will be placed in a team with at least 1 friend.

11&U Mixed Premiership points, ladders and finals in this age group. Coaches continue to encourage skill development, rotation through positions and team play. Players will start to have preferred positions but will still be rotated through positions.

Players are graded into teams according to ability (refer to grading policy / team selection).

 

13 & U Mixed Premiership points, ladders and finals in this age group. Coaches endeavour to continue skill development and foster improvement in players. There may be less rotation of positions with goalers, defenders and mid court players identified.

15 & U Female Premiership points, ladders and finals in this age group. Coaches endeavour to continue skill development and foster improvement in players. There may be less rotation of positions with goalers, defenders and mid court players identified.

17 & Under Female Premiership points, ladders and finals in this age group. Player ability and friendship groups where possible are considered when formulating teams.

(Age is considered to be under the prescribed age on 31 December of that year, i.e. they may turn that age during the season and be eligible to play. i.e. 11&U – they may turn 11 years from 1st January and be eligible for 11&U.  


TRAINING 

  • All teams (NSG to 15&U) train at The Nets HE Parker on Monday afternoons between 4.00 - 7pm. 17&U Training is discretionary based on player / coaches availability.

  • No training will be held on long weekends. 

  • Players are expected to attend training sessions unless injured and to notify coaches if they are unable to train.

  • Players are expected to wear appropriate attire to training including sportswear, bring a water bottle and have a hat (if required).

  • Open teams do not train.

  • A parent/ guardian or an assigned adult of players in NSG  and 11&U teams are expected remain at training in the event of injury.

  • Duration of training for NSG teams is usually 45 minutes and 11&U to 17&U will be between 45 minutes to an hour. 

 

COACHES

HSNC provides a coach for NSG to 15&U teams who are volunteers. 17&U teams will have a coach and/or team manager. All coaches have Working With Children (linked to HSNC) and must comply with the Workers Screening Act 2020 or equivalent. Coaches must also have Netball Victoria registration through Netball Connect.
